Born on the same day as Britney Spears, and with as little to go on as Britney
had going for her, was a Russian girl named Lilya. Now, sixteen years old,
spunky and a little rebellious, Lilya dreams of escaping the squalor of her
home in Russia and going to live in America. When her mother runs off to
America with a man and without her child, Lilya is left at the hands of
fate, and takes the first opportunity she sees to get away. Following an
empty promise from a newfound crush, she finds herself in Sweden, forced into a desperate urban survival.
Lilya endures physical and emotional pain that no adult should have to
face. Despite the horrors of the life she has chosen, she is somehow
still a little girl inside, with the undying dream to reach a better
place. WARNING: contains potentially disturbing scenes depicting the violent sexual exploitation of a minor.
In German, Swedish, and Russian with English subtitles.
